HELP systems are useful for users who are clueless about how the application works. But it involves too much hassle when quick tips and hints are not provided to the intermediate users. They waste a lot of time looking for the solution and indeed put in a lot of efforts. Understanding should be based on the mental model of the users. If they spend quality time with the application which provides a smooth learning experience then it is a win-win situation for both the users and the application. If the design is good, then it can only be made better. HELP systems are useful when continuous practice is required on an aspect. It can be substituted by making the good design better.
