"Ebay is obvious design because it starts out by showing a search bar in which you may enter anything you may be looking to buy. It also allows you to search by category if you are not exactly looking for something specific. For many of those people who love to shop online like myself, the category option is great because I personally tend to just look for random stuff when I am bored. This obvious option allows to increase business because you tend to stumble upon many things you would not normally have searched specifically for, and if you really like it, theres a good chance you will throw a bid out there." The Why: Ebay is what it is today not because it made a great product that everybody needs, but because it created an amazing platform for you to find great products, whatever they may be. Whether it is a book that you need for school, a new lanyard for your keys, or if your really feeling lucky, maybe even a car, ebay has it all. It created the ultimate one stop shop for all the customers in the world. Just about any item you can fathom you can find, and buy without ever even leaving the comfort of your couch. At the time it must have sounded horribly farfetched, but nowadays its a global icon. Not only is it a great platform for customers, but for anyone out there that has a bunch of "stuff" that they'd rather get money for than throw out. And its all as simple as telling the people what you have, maybe adding a picture, and then mailing it out. Bam no mass marketing or running around trying to hustle people for your old toys or clothes. Ebay has truly done something great because it found the way to get everybody involved and for everybody to profit in one way or another.
