The users know very little about a new technology that is being tested. They may not be able to explore all the features in details without the use of a manual. The feature that one user appreciates might be rejected by another since all users have different tastes. Many users should be tested to find out if a particular feature is actually needed. Testing just one user and adding features that the particular user may recommend may not be liked by other users. The solution to this problem simply lies down in the fact that Situation Centered Design must be used for most design problems, as recommended by Hoekman. The situation centered oriented design is user centered and derived from a detail analysis of the goals situations and situation awareness requirements of the user coupled with situation awareness design principles.
In Project 2, I should have allowed more users to use the equipment under different situations and observed how they dealt with the situation. Could have reached a better consensus.
