I would say online help, tutorials really helps their user to use the product, but i do not think help system is the substitutes of "good design", because help system take times to complete. help system set a barrier to new user to experience the new product, users passion will wear down during the help system. they will find a substitute which is more easy to use.
HELP system sometimes is necessary for a product, even the product have good design. because people are easily forget, for instance, a product have a lot of features.
For project 5 personas, i would focus on people who just known marvels, but don't really like them.
